Abstract

Education plays an important role in the progress of the nation by developing the potential and character of students according to the values of Pancasila. Character education including civic disposition mdash attitudes of caring and living harmoniously mdash must be instilled from an early age. At My Little Island Elementary School morning devotion is carried out to instill spiritual values and social attitudes such as tolerance and responsibility. This study aims to examine the role of morning devotion in forming students civic disposition in order to support character building and civic awareness from an early age. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach to understand the process of forming students civic disposition through morning devotion at My Little Island Elementary School a multicultural school with an international curriculum. Data were collected through observation interviews with teachers and students and school documentation. Data analysis was carried out interactively (Miles amp Huberman) including reduction presentation and drawing conclusions. The validity of the data was maintained through triangulation of methods and sources so that the results were valid and accountable. This study confirms that the formation of civic disposition through morning devotion is effective if supported by an adaptive integrative and sustainable approach involving strengthening values in the curriculum teacher role models and active involvement of parents so that internalization of moral values can occur comprehensively.
