Students attitudes play a crucial role in determining how they respond to different types of feedback including lecturers written corrective feedback and AI-generated feedback in writing classes. This study explored EFL students rsquo attitudes towards lecturers rsquo written corrective feedback and AI feedback in writing classes along with the possible reasons behind those attitudes. The researchers collected data by distributing a questionnaire to fifty-five students of English Language Education study program in the 2023 cohort at Universitas Negeri Malang. Then the interviews with five students were conducted to provide more in-depth information as well as the reasons behind those attitudes. The study found that students showed more favorable attitudes toward teacher feedback than AI feedback in cognitive affective and conative aspects. The study also revealed that students rsquo attitudes were shaped by various positive and negative reasons related to their experiences with both teacher and AI feedback. Teachers are therefore recommended to maintain the role as trusted feedback providers by giving written corrective feedback to improve students rsquo writing abilities. Additionally it would be better for teachers to incorporate AI feedback into argumentative writing classes to reduce their workload and prevent them from providing vague feedback.
