Game-Based Collaborative Learning has emerged as an innovative instructional strategy combining games and collaborative learning. This study investigates the effectiveness of Game-Based Collaborative Learning (GBCL) in enhancing students rsquo reading comprehension of narrative texts assisted by ldquo Picture and Text Sequencing Puzzle rdquo ldquo Kahoot rdquo and ldquo Narrative Video Detective rdquo games on improving reading comprehension and engagement among eighth-grade students in one of the junior high schools in Batu. A quasi-experimental design was used in this research with a pre-test and a post-test as the instruments involving two classes one as the experimental group taught using GBCL and the other as the control group taught using a conventional method. The experimental group rsquo s average score increased by 27.84 points. In contrast the control group rsquo s score decreased by 1 point. The data was analysed using IBM SPSS 23. The independent sample t-test was used to determine the method s effectiveness. The findings showed a significant difference in the experimental group with sig (2 tailed) 0.00 p lt 0.05. These results indicate that Game-Based Collaborative Learning is an effective instructional strategy for improving students rsquo reading comprehension compared to the conventional method.
