Abstract

Religious diversity in Balun Village Lamongan Regency reflects a unique social reality where people of various religions live side by side. This situation is important to study because it includes people with disabilities who require social acceptance to participate equally in community life. The main problem in this study is how religious diversity influences societal attitudes toward people with disabilities both in the form of acceptance and challenges in the form of stereotypes and prejudice. The method used is qualitative research with an explanatory approach. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews observations and documentation with religious leaders community members and people with disabilities. The results of the study indicate that religious diversity contributes to building an inclusive attitude in society towards people with disabilities. Universal values in religious teachings such as compassion justice and respect for human dignity form the basis for creating a collective consciousness that is more accepting of differences. Religious leaders play a strategic role as agents of social change through preaching and religious practices that emphasize messages of inclusivity while also providing equal spiritual space for people with disabilities. This confirms that religious diversity if managed through an inclusive approach becomes a strong social potential in strengthening acceptance of people with disabilities. Further research is recommended to expand the regional context and methodological approach.
