Pragmatic language skills are essential in early childhood development as they reflect a child s ability to use language appropriately in social contexts. In today s digital era children are easily exposed to video content from platforms such as YouTube and TikTok which can influence their speech and interaction patterns. This study aims to identify the most frequently consumed types of digital video content by children aged 5 ndash 6 years describe their pragmatic language abilities based on vocabulary grammar intonation and social interaction and analyze the relationship between video content types and children s language skills. The research used a quantitative correlational method with data collected through parent questionnaires and direct classroom observations. The sample consisted of 60 TK B students selected using a saturated sampling technique. The findings show that entertainment videos such as cartoons were the most frequently watched (43.4%) followed by educational videos (28.3%) and game videos (28.3%). Meanwhile children s pragmatic language ability was mostly in the moderate category (40%) followed by good (38.3%) and poor (21.7%). The Chi- Square test indicated a significant relationship between the type of video content and children s pragmatic language development (p 0.000 p lt 0.05). In conclusion the type of digital video content significantly affects the development of children s pragmatic language. Children who frequently watch educational content tend to have stronger communication skills while those who consume more entertainment or gaming videos often imitate language use that is less contextually appropriate. Therefore parental and teacher supervision is crucial to ensure children gain positive language stimulation from digital media.
