Abstract

The presence of technology in education enables teachers to use instructional media that have been integrated with the use of technology like Audio-Visual media (AVM) which has been stated in previous studies to be beneficial to improve English language skills. However the implementation of technology and AVM in English classroom in Indonesia seems to be still not optimal because there are still challenges that obstruct the use of AVM in the classroom. Therefore this research aims to find out the teachers rsquo experiences of how they perceive AVM in English classroom and find out the challenges faced by the teachers in integrating AVM. This research used multi-case design with a descriptive qualitative approach and used interviews to collect the data. The result of this research showed that the English teachers use AVM as instructional media to present explanations of the learning topics. In using AVM in English classroom the teachers have several differences such as in the approach of AVM and also similarities like their similar view of how to use AVM to improve students rsquo English skills. Within the experiences the teachers also face various challenges which may complicate the teaching process in English language classroom.
