p School-aged children represent a transitional population group from early childhood to pre-puberty that requires special attention to dietary intake due to ongoing growth and development. According to the Director of Community Nutrition Indonesia is currently facing a double burden of malnutrition namely undernutrition and overnutrition. Based on data from Riskesdas 2018 and SKI 2023 the prevalence of both undernutrition and overnutrition has shown an increasing trend over the years. Snack foods are an inseparable part of students rsquo daily lives and can serve as a source of energy and macronutrients especially when children are more active at school and outdoors. However not all snacks provide good nutritional value particularly those high in sugar salt and fat. Data from the Malang City Health Office also indicate that the achievement of healthy snacks falls within the lowest PHBS (Clean and Healthy Living Behavior) indicator. This study aims to determine whether the snacks consumed by students contribute to meeting their energy macronutrient needs and nutritional status. The study employed an analytical correlation method with a cross-sectional design conducted at SDN Kotalama 6 Malang involving a population of 164 students. Using stratified random sampling across grades 1 to 6 a total of 68 students who met the inclusion criteria were selected as respondents. Data collection involved anthropometric measurements (height and weight) two 24-hour food recall forms and a food frequency questionnaire (FFQ). Data were analyzed using the Spearman correlation test. The Spearman correlation test showed a significant relationship between the contribution of snack foods and the adequacy of daily energy and macronutrient intake among students at SDN Kotalama 6 Malang (p-value lt 0.05) but no significant relationship was found between snack food contribution and students rsquo nutritional status. /p
