Abstract

This study aims to develop a direct learning instructional model for basicmovement material for children with intellectual disabilities in Phase B at SpecialSchools (SLB) in Tapin Regency.The research and development model used follows the ADDIE modeldeveloped by Branch which consists of five stages analysis design development implementation and evaluation. Product testing was carried out in five stages (1)design validation conducted by three experts namely a learning expert a mediaexpert and a practitioner expert as well as small-group and large-group trials (2)the trial subjects included a learning expert from the Faculty of Sports Science (FIK)at Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) a media expert from the Early ChildhoodEducation Department (PGPAUD) at UM and a content expert from FIK UM. Thesmall-group trial involved six fourth-grade students from SLB Negeri Tapin whilethe large-group trial involved 34 fourth-grade students comprising 17 students fromSLB Negeri 1 Tapin and 17 students from SLB Negeri 2 Tapin (3) the types of datacollected included qualitative data (in the form of suggestions and explanations)and quantitative data (in numerical form) (4) data collection techniques consistedof observation and interviews for needs analysis and questionnaires were used togather evaluation data from the learning expert media expert practitioner expert and participants in both the small-group and large-group trials and (5) data analysistechniques used descriptive quantitative analysis with percentages.The validation results showed that the module was highly feasible for use with a validity score of 90.5%. Effectiveness testing through pre-test and post-testindicated a significant improvement in students rsquo basic motor skills with a pairedsample t-test showing a significance value of 0.004 lt 0.05. The evaluation alsoshowed that teachers rated the module as highly valid and effective in the PJOKlearning process.Based on data analysis it can be concluded that the instructional moduleusing the direct learning method is proven to be effective and appropriate forimproving the basic movement skills of Phase B students with intellectualdisabilities at special schools.
