Elementary Education of Science Graduate School State University of Malang. Advisors (1) Dr. Sutopo M. Si. (2) Prof. Dr. Siti Zubaidah M. Pd. Keywords Multiple Representation Concept Understanding Newton s Laws One of the ways to observe students understanding on a phenomenon is by asking them to describe a phenomenon by using any kinds representation (multiple representations). The use of multiple representations becomes one of the approaches in science learning. It is because the concept of multiple representation can be represented into varying forms such as verbal physics picture and mathematical pattern. The understanding of the concept of Newton s Law can be achieved by applying multiple representation. The main purposes of this research project are (1) to find out how the process of the Newton s Law by using multiple representation Learning (2) to know how the improvement of the students conceptual understanding on the material of Newton s Law after the implementation of multiple representation learning (3) to find out the transformation of the students mindset on the concept of Newton s Law after the implementation of multiple representation learning (4) to know the students problems which are unidentified by implementing the multiple representation learning (5) to find out the types of representations and representation quality which are implemented by students in dealing with problems in understanding concept of Newton s Laws. This research applied mixed methods with embedded experimental design. The result of the research appeared in both quantitative and qualitative data the qualitative data was used to support quantitave data. This research used quasi-experimental design. This research occurred in SMP IT Asy-Syadzili Pakis Malang East Java Province in the first semester of 2015/2016 academic year. The subject of this study were 25 female students selected by purposeful sampling. The researcher applied (1) concept understanding test (2) learning activity observation sheet and (3) students representatives quality instrument instrument.
