The research problem is How can language game increase the vocabulary mastery of the second grade students of MTsN Model Makassar The researcher employed the design of Collaborative Classroom Action Research in which the researcher was assisted by a collaborative teacher to conduct the study. The research was conducted in a single class that consisted of forty students all of whom were taken as the subject of the research. This action research was conducted in two cycles each of which was done in three meetings two meetings for implementing the game and one meeting for testing the students vocabulary. The procedure of the research consisted of four main steps planning implementing observation and reflection. The researcher used some instruments to collect the data namely tests observation forms students questionnaires and field notes. The findings of the research show that an appropriate model of vocabulary teaching using What s Missing Game can improve the students mastery of vocabulary. This is shown by the improvement of the average score made by the students that is the mean score of 52.00 in the pre-test improved to 63.63 in Cycle I and further improved to 79.33 in Cycle II. The students also show a positive response toward the language game applied in the research. The procedures were (1) preparing media before the game is implemented (2) specifying the objectives (3) defining the students group and (4) practicing the game with the three-phase technique in teaching. Based on the findings it can be concluded that learning vocabulary using language game What s Missing improved not only the students mastery of vocabulary but also their motivation. Realizing that game can motivate the students to study it is suggested that English teachers use language game as alternative strategy in their classroom.
