Abstract

This research is motivated by observations that students require alternative learning media especially videographic-based materials for the Material Testing Laboratory course. Students desire this medium to enhance their comprehension make lectures more engaging and overcome challenges in the laboratory. As such the researcher intends to develop videographic-based learning media to assist university-level students in the Material Testing Laboratory course. The objectives of this research are (1) To produce a product in the form of videographic-based learning media for the Material Testing Laboratory course in the Civil Engineering Management and Maintenance Technology program at the Universitas Negeri Malang (2) To determine the validity and practicality of the developed videographic-based learning media for the Material Testing Laboratory course in the Civil Engineering Management and Maintenance Technology program at the Universitas Negeri Malang. This research employs the ADDIE development model for creating videographic-based learning media. The choice of this model is based on its ease of understanding systematic approach and relevance in learning media development. The research was conducted at the Universitas Negeri Malang involving first-semester students in the D4 Civil Engineering Management and Maintenance Technology program. The entire student population consisting of 85 individuals served as research subjects. Data collection comprised both qualitative and quantitative data with questionnaires as the primary instrument. This is a brief overview of the approach and methodology used in this research. The results of this development achieved high validity scores with 88.8% for media validation and 82.5% for material validation both falling into the very suitable category. Furthermore the practicality of the learning media also received high ratings ranging from 81% to 83% also within the very suitable category. Thus the learning media is considered excellent and suitable for use in the context of the course.
