Specifically it is aimed to find out (1) the characteristics pattern of DA practices in teaching critical reading skills (2) factors affecting EFL teachers in practicing DA in critical reading skills and (3) challenges that EFL teachers face in DA practices in teaching critical reading. This qualitative method used a case study approach. It also uses DA practices in teaching critical reading because it is believed to be highly associated with the ability to deliver meditation. This study involved an English teacher who taught at one of higher reputable universities in Indonesia. This study analyzed teacher mediation in critical reading skills with a micro genetic approach and semi-structured interview. The findings indicated that teachers help students read critically by questioning and multiple DA strategies. Besides it was found that factors affecting teachers in DA included students competence and limited time. At the same time some challenges faced by teachers in DA were mainly affected by the shifting mode of teaching (offline to online) and the lack of teachers skills to mediate the student s critical reading skills. The recommendations were drawn to several parties including (1) the teacher training colleges to prepare the teacher candidate with not only professional knowledge and pedagogical knowledge but also assessment knowledge particularly classroom dynamic assessment (2) policymakers such as institution and teacher organization to involve EFL teachers in assessment training particularly dynamic assessment training in language teaching (3) future researcher. Besides researching the online classroom as a dynamic assessment with different EFL classroom settings and English skills might give a practical contribution to the teachers in applying the DA effectively in the EFL classroom.
