The experiments on explicit instructions of collocations have been conducted to investigate its effectiveness as a result of indirect vocabulary learning. However the teaching of direct collocations was delivered by the teachers. At this point it still remained a question if the students self-correct their vocabulary especially collocations using a web collocation dictionary. Therefore in this research the use of self-correction using a web collocation dictionary is believed to enrich English students rsquo vocabulary especially collocations in writing. The research question was formulated as follows ldquo Is the average score of the collocation test after using a collocation dictionary independently better than the average score of the collocation test before it rdquo The vocabulary studied in this research was limited to collocations (the natural combinations of two or more content words). The content words are verbs adjectives nouns and adverbs. This study is quantitative research. It examined the effectiveness of self-correction using a web collocation dictionary to enrich vocabulary especially collocations in writing. The design used was a pre-experimental research design that involved 24 students in an argumentative writing course. The instruments used were a writing test and a scoring rubric used to test the students rsquo ability in using collocations. In the writing test the students were given 2 writing prompts to choose one to write an argumentative essay about it. The experiment lasted for 6 meetings. The pre-test was in the first meeting. The second to fifth meetings were for the treatments in which the students were introduced to the collocations and how self-correct the collocations using a web collocation dictionary and the sixth meeting was for the post-test. The types of collocations identified were Verb and Noun Adjective and Noun Verb and Adjective Adverb and Verb Adjective and Adverb and Noun Noun. After computing the data into SPSS 20 to undergo the T-test the first result shows that the p-value was 0.000. It was lower than 0.05 (0.000 lt 0.05) which means there is significant difference between the average scores of the pre-test and the post-test. In the process of analyzing the data the researcher found another finding which was worth mentioned. The finding is that the most correctly used type of collocations is Adjective and Noun (31.74%) and Verb and Noun (26.52%). Based on the findings of this research the researcher concludes that the treatment given after the pre-test was adequate to enhance ELT students rsquo vocabulary especially collocations in writing. In addition after the treatment the students used more types of collocations in which almost all of the students used more than three types of collocations. For the suggestion it is suggested that the teachers encourage the students to self-correct their vocabulary using a web collocation dictionary in revising their writing. Future researchers are suggested that they conduct research with a bigger number of samples focus on the correlation between years of instruction and the ability in using correct collocations or the correlation between negative transfers of collocations and the product of writing.
