The current study uses research and development design adapted from Richey amp Klein (2007) and Latief rsquo s (2019) which consist the process of identification and review (need analysis) design and development evaluation (validation) revision final product and publication. The product of this research was tried on the tenth grade students from three senior high schools in Jember Jawa Timur Indonesia. They are SMAN 4 Jember MAN 1 Jember and SMK Al Muttaqin Jember. In this research the purpose of need analysis process was to find out the needs of the materials for the tenth grade students of senior high school. Then questionnaires were given to the teachers of each school to know about students rsquo initial abilities the implementation of online learning the availability of learning resources and the effectiveness of learning tasks. The data from this process became the basis in developing the content of the prototyped online English workbook as the product of this research. Consists of two units with the topic of narrative this prototyped online English workbook presents various activities for four language skills and three language components. All of those activities/tasks are expected to engage the students rsquo thinking capacities and contain opportunities for them to use their existing knowledge and skills. The draft of developed workbook prototype was evaluated by lecturers from State University of Malang University of Jember and teachers from each school. They were asked to fill the expert validation form adapted from Cunningsworth s (1995) and Osborn rsquo s (1984) aspects of textbook and workbook evaluation. The aspects include the purpose or book objective (learner rsquo s need teaching situation flexibility of learning styles) content and organization (grammar vocabulary tasks complexity learnability usefulness continuity) the 6C rsquo s of education values layout and design. After that as a part of the evaluation process two students from each senior high school were asked to try to use the prototyped online English workbook as the supplemental learning resource after being revised based on data from the experts. Questionnaires were distributed to the students as part of the data to know whether or not they could enjoy the prototyped online English workbook. The validation form and the questionnaire were aimed at determining the strengths and the weaknesses of the prototyped online English workbook before it is published. After the try out the second revision was carried out to produce a final product of this study. The product was finalized or revised and later be considered as an appropriate and ready to be published and to be used prototyped online English workbook completed with the key answer. Based on the result of the present study the product of this research is recommended to be used by the English teachers as the supplementary or alternative material in teaching and learning process. They could also use this product as inspiration for creating their own materials by adjusting the needs and situations of the class they teach. This research also suggests future researchers who are interested in conducting similar research by modifying the procedure and involves the larger subjects with more varied genre of texts which will make the final product more effective and efficient and its feasibility will be more acknowledged. The product of this research is also expected to give ideas or insight for workbook authors to write another prototyped workbook or even a whole workbook with more topics included.
