As the fundamental part of learning a language vocabulary mastery is crucial for the children s language ability and performance. This study was conducted to develop engaging and interactive learning media to help a teacher to solve problems related to vocabulary instruction. The educational Research and Development (RnD) model was adopted from Borg and Gall (1989) to attain the goal of the research. The frantic situation caused by the pandemic especially in education requires the students to join additional learning programs to catch up and work on the materials they got from school. Thus this study is conducted in a Tutoring Institution in Malang Regency involving 8 students and the teacher of 7th graders. Based on the result of the need analysis Magic Cards as the media for teaching vocabulary were considered appropriate to be developed. The content of the card game was based on English syllabus which emphasized on 3 categories noun verb and adjective with the themes of animal public building and thing. The result from the field testing showed a good response from the students and teacher. It shows not only students rsquo soft skills are formed but also hard skills. As evidence the Magic Cards declared suitable and recommended to be used for vocabulary learning for the seventh-graders in the second semester.
