Speaking is a productive skill that proves how much students are competent in a language. This study intends to improve the students speaking skills in terms of fluency and pronunciation by expounding their experience in recount text using the vlog-based strategy. The students speaking ability scores are below 75 the standard minimum score at the school. Nowadays learning activity in Indonesia is carried out online due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The students have problems with speaking English. The design of this study is a classroom action research in one cycle. In conducting this study the researcher involved 32 students of class VIII-A as the study respondents. The data were collected by an observation checklist a questionnaire and a speaking test. The findings showed that the students speaking ability was enhanced in one cycle of three meetings and achieved success criteria indicated by their score in each session. In meeting 1 they were already confident in speaking English but were still not fluent and had performed some mistakes in pronunciation. In meeting 2 the students spoke more fluently and performed better in pronunciation. In the last meeting the students were assigned to do a task in speaking performance through vlog. The researcher applied question-answer about vlog content and the extensive performance by students in practicing their vlog to improve their speaking. It showed that the students rsquo performance has reached the criteria of success.
