Kata kunci karakteristik empati siswa bullying Madrasah Aliyah Empati merupakan tanda kepedulian manusia terhadap orang lain perekat yang memungkinkan terbentuknya kehidupan sosial. Nilai-nilai kehidupan sosial yang ditanamkan akan membentuk karakter yang merupakan fondasi utama terbentuknya sebuah tatanan masyarakat yang beradab dan sejahtera. Individu dengan akurasi empati rendah mengakibatkan agresivitas tinggi siswa-siswa dengan agresivitas tinggi cenderung menjadi siswa-siswa beresiko. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan dan menjelaskan tentang bagaimana karakteristik empati kognitif dan empati afektif siswa pelaku bullying pada Madrasah Aliyah Al-Barokah di kota Mataram yang meliputi (1) perspektif taking (2) fantacy (3) emphatic concern dan (4) personal distress. Penelitian ini menggunakan studi kasus tunggal dimana pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara kepada siswa guru kelas dan guru Bimbingan Konseling. Pengamatan dilakukan pada karakteristik empati dan perilaku bullying siswa di sekolah sesuai fokus penelitian sedangkan studi dokumentasi dilakukan pada dokumen-dokumen tentang siswa dan arsip-arsip sekolah catatan cumulatif record siswa sesuai fokus penelitian. Analisis data menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman dimana ada tiga tahap kegiatan analisis data yang dilakukan secara bersamaan yaitu tahap reduksi data tahap penyajian data dan tahap penarikan kesimpulan atau verifikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa karakteristik empati siswa-siswi pelaku bullying pada Madrasah Aliyah Al-Barokah di kota Mataram memiliki karakteristik. 1) Perspektif Taking karakteristik ini artinya para siswa-siswi sulit mengambil perspektive orang lain mereka sulit membayangkan diri mereka dalam posisi orang lain misalnya pada posisi orang yang mengalami kesulitan atau kesusahan. 2) Fantacy pada karakteristik empati ini para siswa-siswi sulit berempati pada orang lain dengan latar belakang nilai-nilai budaya moral adat-istiadat yang berbeda dengan mereka hal ini disebabkan karena para siswa kurang memiliki wawasan atau pandangan budaya dan latar belakang sosial orang lain sehingga membuat mereka sangat kaku dalam mengembangkan kemampuan berempati pada orang lain. 3) Empatic Concern karakteristik empati siswa ini sangat dominan dilatar belakangi oleh pola asuh dalam keluarga dan lingkungan sosialnya. Pada keluarga mereka kurang mendapat perhatian dari orang tua kurang kasih sayang dalam lingkungan sosial mereka selalu mendapat tekanan disisihkan dan diacuhkan mengakibatkan mereka sulit mengembangkan rasa empati pada orang lain. 4) Personal Distress Pada karakteristik empati ini empati para siswa muncul dari hasil pengamatan atau tanggapan terhadap orang lain yang sedang mengalami ketidaknyamanan kemalangan marah sedih dan berbagai bentuk kondisi distress lainnya. Karakteristik empati ini sebenarnya mirip dengan karakteristik empati lainnya hanya saja pada karakteristik empati siswa pelaku bullying di Madrasah Aliyah Al-Barokah di kota Mataram ini lebih memfokuskan pada kondisi distress orang lain. Keywords empathy characteristics students bullying Madrasah Aliyah Empathy is a sign of human concern for others the glue that allows the formation of social life. The values of social life that is planted will form the character that is the main foundation of the formation of a civilized and prosperous society. Individuals with low empathy accuracy lead to high aggressiveness students with high aggressiveness tend to be at risk. The purpose of this study is to describe and explain about the characteristics of cognitive empathy and affective empathy of students in Madrasah Aliyah Al-Barokah in Mataram city which includes (1) perspective taking (2) fantacy (3) emphatic concern and (4) Personal distress. This study used a single case study where data collection was done through interviews to students classroom teachers and teachers Counseling Guidance. Observations were made on the characteristics of empathy and bullying behavior of students in the school according to the focus of the study while documentary studies were conducted on documents about students and school archives cumulative records of student records according to the focus of the study. Data analysis used Miles and Huberman model where there are three stages of data analysis activities performed simultaneously namely The data reduction phase the data presentation stage and the conclusion or verification phase. The results showed that the characteristics of empathy of students doing bullying on Madrasah Aliyah Al-Barokah in the city of Mataram are described to have tyhe following caharacteristics 1) perspective talking this characteristic means that the students are difficult to take perspective of others as they are difficult to imagine themselves in other people s position for example in the position of people who have difficulty or distress. 2) fantacy the characteristics of empathy means that students are difficult to empathize with others having different background values culture morals customs with them . Both of these students empathy characteristics are very dominant in the background of parenting in their family and social environment. In the family they get less attention from parents less affection in the social environment so they are always under pressure put aside and ignored. This problem can inhibit the chemical messages in the brain that produce hormones oxytocin and endorphin where these two hormones can trigger The emergence of warm feelings positive thoughts relaxation and enjoyment. Fantacy This is characterized by students who find it difficult to empathize with others having different values cultures morals customs because the students lare ack the cultural insights and views of other people so it makes them very rigid in developing the ability to empathize with others.3) Empatic Concern student empathy characteristic is maily dominated by their parents social background reflected in their parenting pattern in family and social environment. In their families students having this characteristics usually get less attention from parents less affection in the social environment they are always under pressure set aside and ignored making it difficult for them to develop a sense of empathy for others. 4) Personal Distress.Regarding this empathy characteristic this empathy of students arises from the observation or response to others who are experiencing discomfort misfortune anger sadness and various other forms of distress conditions. This characteristic of empathy is in fact is similar to other empathic characteristics only in the empathic characteristics of bullying students in Madrasah Aliyah Al-Barokah in Mataram city is more focused on the distress conditions of others.
