ABSTRACT Setyowati Sri 2008. The Leadership of Woman in Educational Organi-zation.The Research of Life History Values and Behaviour The Director of Akademi Refleksi Insan Malang Berbudi . Dissertation. Educational Management Study Postgraduate Program State University of Malang Advisors (I) Prof. Dr. Hendyat Soetopo M.Pd (II) Prof. Dr. Willem Mantja M.Pd (III) Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Bafadal M.Pd. Keyword the leadership of woman educational organization The writer chooses woman as the object of study because in the 20th 21th century gender appears as development issue. According to Nurture theory (Umar 2001) Looking at socio-cultural The leadership can be managed by man or woman that needed by organization for the potential they have. This research sets forth the life history and the leadership behavior of woman in Java as the director of an academy running for health field. The theories used in this research are leadership theory by Robert Fritz leadership power theory by David T. Kyle Javanese leadership theory by Bratawijaya Javanese culture theory by Herusatoto Javanese culture value orientation by Simuh and Javanese leadership analysis by Anthlov and Cederroth Educational leadership theory by Fattah Koentjaraningrat Khoe Yao Warner and Palfreyman. The research method uses qualitative approach having charac-teristic hermeneutic and humanistic which is designed using life history research from Bogdan and Biklen (1998). The research location is in Akademi Refleksi Insan Malang Berbudi on Jl. Sudimoro 36 Mojolangu Lowokwaru Malang The research takes data from key informant (its director) and support informants are her employees and her family. Data collecting technique is conducted using deeply interview and document-tation. The finding in this research is about life history of woman as a director of Akademi Refleksi Insan Malang Berbudi that descendent factor can integrate the characteristic of leadership and charisma e.g. the potential to cure sick people and it can influence her to be fighting spirit woman. The fighting potential from she is not only from descendent factor but also intellectual factor which is showed from her experiments and the spiritual factor is triggered by her wishes to reach her ambition supported by many people. Chronologically she doesn t have good educational background but she has talent to lead and all her potentials have the elements of missionaries behavior namely extrovert helpful kind developer charac-teristic namely creative innovative dynamic organized and benevolent behaviour. iv Java s culture values which she was using to manage it finds that (1) In daily life her personality is modest friendly firm and respectful. (2) The leadership for the sub ordinate can be seen from her spirit doing a job by herself as long as she can do it her persistence to solve the problem wisely a good decision maker and keeping the promise. (3) Her achieve-ments prove that she is an intellectual leader. Leadership behaviour of woman as a director of Akademi Refleksi Insan Malang Berbudi in managing educational organization from zero to hero finds that (1) She gives information gently gives explanation clearly gives an order politely warns firmly and logically motivates them by using good language gives model decide firmly and keep the promise. (2) Reinforcement The procedure to give reward is fair. She helps sub ordinate who has problem using persuasive approach prohibits them with logical reason gives warning or punishment carefully wisely and firmly. (3) She gives facilities well human and efficiently but there are weaknesses in managing building and human resource because she doesn t have educational background in management. (4) Review finds that her charisma gives bad effect to the psychology of employees and students. They are afraid of a curse and It is caused them not to be creative. (5) The employees and the students hope that they will have the independent expert in educational management field in the future. It proves that their loyality and solidarity are good to her. (6) Graduations are guaranted. Based on the findings of research are suggested (1) Good character of a leader which is set for an example can be a motivator for the employees in working. The leader s charisma should be used as the power of attraction to make good work s atmosphere. (2) In organizing system should be considered about human resource management. (3) In maintaining facilities it must be identified according to the need considered the fund usefulness hen determined its supplying plan. (4) It should be strived for improving the employees welfare.
