Abstract

The low achievement of students rsquo learning outcomes is a problem in the learning process. Many factors influence learning outcomes one of which is the learning strategy. A learning strategy refers to the teaching and learning activities that must be carried out by teachers and students to achieve the learning objectives. Therefore it is necessary to apply active learning strategies one of which is the peer lesson strategy. Along with the development of technology in education the peer lesson strategy combined with digital presentations has become an innovative approach to adapt to the demands of the times. Based on constructivism theory students need to have the ability to develop their knowledge independently thus they are required to learn actively. This study aims to determine the effect of implementing an active learning strategy using the peer lesson type with digital presentations on students rsquo learning outcomes. The research employed an experimental method within a quantitative research framework. The study utilized a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group. It was conducted at SMKN 3 Malang with the population consisting of all 11th-grade students. The sample comprised two 11th-grade classes from the Computer and Network Engineering (TKJ) department. The data analysis technique used to test the hypothesis was the Independent Samples t-test. Based on the data presentation and the results of statistical analysis it can be concluded that the history learning outcomes of students in the control group taught using conventional strategies were not significantly improved. This is evidenced by an N-Gain score of 0.267 which is categorized as low or ineffective. In contrast the experimental group taught using the active learning peer lesson strategy integrated with digital presentations showed a significantly better improvement with an N-Gain score of 0.601 falling into the moderate or reasonably effective category. Furthermore the results of hypothesis testing indicate a positive and statistically significant effect of the applied treatment on student learning outcomes leading to the conclusion that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected.
