General Elections in Indonesia especially in Muslim-majority areas such as Madura cannot be separated from the central role of kyai as religious and social figures. This study aims to examine the role of kyai in the ELECTION contestation in Pamekasan Regency Madura with a focus on the Matsaratul Huda Islamic Boarding School. The research method used is descriptive qualitative through in-depth interview techniques participant observation and documentation studies. Data analysis was carried out using three stages namely data reduction data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that the motivation of kyai in participating in the ELECTION is driven by moral encouragement social mandate and the desire to fight for the interests of the people in politics. The involvement of kyai has a significant impact on voter behavior by directing people s political preferences based on religious beliefs and loyalty. In addition the perception of society and political elites towards the role of kyai is generally positive although there are concerns regarding the potential for politicization of religion. These findings strengthen that kyai in Pamekasan are not only religious figures but also key political actors who shape the dynamics of local democracy.
