This study was conducted to examine the extent to which self-efficacy and social support contribute to the academic performance of new students in the Accounting Study Program at the State University of Malang. The research method used was quantitative with an explanatory approach. The study respondents were 125 first-year students. The analysis results showed that neither self-efficacy nor social support had a significant influence on academic performance. This finding suggests that new students academic performance is more likely influenced by factors other than self-efficacy and social support such as cognitive abilities learning strategies or institutional factors. The implication of this study is the need to consider additional variables that are more relevant to the adaptation process of new students in an effort to improve academic performance.
