Abstract

The purpose of this study is to improve the Arabic reading proficiency of 16 third-grade students at Pesantren Ilmu Al-Qur rsquo an by using the CIRC (Cooperative Integrated Reading And Composition) cooperative learning approach. The low ability to read and comprehend Arabic texts as well as the absence of interactive and contextual learning methods served as the background for this research. This study employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) methodology conducted over two cycles. Data were collected through interviews observation testing and documentation and then analyzed using both qualitative and quantitative approaches. The results indicate a significant improvement in students reading abilities particularly in vocabulary comprehension identifying key ideas and summarizing information. This is evidenced by the percentage of students achieving mastery which increased from 72.5% in the first cycle to 95.6% in the second cycle. The implementation of the CIRC method not only enhanced learning outcomes but also fostered a more active creative and collaborative classroom environment.
