Abstract

p This study analyzes the socio-demographic determinants of the adequacy of formal labor wages in East Java in 2023 using Sakernas micro data. Problems that occur in the formal workforce in East Java such as the provincial minimum wage value which is always below the average national minimum wage in the last five years the dependency value which tends to increase in several years that coincide with the demographic bonus and the high demand for formal workers which must be accompanied by work eligibility. Work eligibility is also included in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 8. The method used is quantitative descriptive and binary logistic regression to identify factors that influence low wages (low pay rate). The results of the study show that workers with low education female gender gen z (15-24 years) or babby boomer and pre boomer (over 59 years) and unmarried status tend to receive wages below the eligibility standard. Conversely workers with secondary-high education undergoing training male gender married migrating and working in the industrial sector have a greater chance of getting a living wage. This finding supports human capital theory and is relevant to SDGs goal point 8 on decent work and economic growth. /p
