Abstract

p Bracing is a component or element that is placed diagonally and functions as a stiffener made of concrete or steel and can be applied to reinforced concrete structures and steel frame structures. The type of bracing used is the concentric bracing type. Bracing has the disadvantage that the level of stiffness is smaller than the shear wall system and is evidenced by the actual drift produced by the shear wall is smaller than the bracing (Febian Saefuddin amp Desmaliana 2021). The solution to reduce the shortcomings of bracing is to enlarge the bracing cross section increase the number of braces and optimize the type of bracing (Feryan Ernanda 2021). This study aims to determine the optimal configuration and type of bracing in structural behavior as an alternative to shear walls. structural behavior includes natural vibration period natural frequency base shear force displacement story drift. The design in this study begins with the structural analysis stage using Etabs software with a variety of spectrum response analysis followed by several controls on structural behavior. The results show that the optimal type of bracing that meets the requirements of a dual system as a substitute for shear walls is a combination of V amp Inverted V ( ) bracing. The results show the value of the natural vibration period of 1.069 sec. Second the natural frequency is 0.935 Hz. Third the base shear force in the x and y directions is 55205.4 kN and 55218.0 kN. Fourth the displacement in the x direction is 41.31 mm and the y direction is 60.23 mm. Fifth the average story drift in X direction is 15.30 mm and the average story drift in Y direction is 22.31 mm. /p
