A Machine workshop can relate theoretical issues to the empirical issues. The empirical issues also can result a theory through the machine workshop. In this globalization era the industrial products should fulfill the international standardization so that they can compete with other products. In this case Vocational High School as a place to produce qualified human resources should try to make its machine workshop fulfill the standardization of quality management. As a result the students will be able to fulfill the need of industrial world. Therefore the good effective and efficient management enable the use of the machine workshop of the Vocational High School as a teaching media to increase students skills and knowledge. Moreover it enables the students to face the challenge of the globalization era. The purposes of this study are to (1) know the condition of Vocational High Schools machine workshop in Malang Raya in terms of the scheduling of practice activity (2) know the condition of Vocational High Schools machine workshop in Malang Raya in terms of the tools need program (3) know the condition of Vocational High Schools machine workshop in Malang Raya in terms of the tools organization (4) know the condition of Vocational High Schools machine workshop in Malang Raya in terms of the material organization (5) know the condition of Vocational High Schools machine workshop in Malang Raya in terms of the room organization (6) test the significance of the condition of Vocational High Schools machine workshop in Malang Malang district and Batu today in terms of the practice program (7) test the significance of the condition of State Vocational High Schools machine workshop in Malang Malang district and Batu today in terms of the tools need program (8) test the significance of the condition of Vocational High Schools machine workshop in Malang Malang district and Batu in terms of the tools organization (9) test the significance of the condition of Vocational High Schools machine workshop in Malang Malang district and Batu in terms of the material organization and (10) test the significance of the condition of State Vocational High Schools machine workshop in Malang Malang district and Batu in terms of the room organization. Based on the problems that are studied above it can be concluded that this study is belonged to a quantitative descriptive research. The population of this study is all Vocational High Schools majoring mechanical engineering in Malang Raya. According to the Education Office there are 16 Vocational High Schools in Malang Raya and 8 of them are used as samples in this study. The data collection is done by using questionnaires. While the data analysis is conducted in 2 steps. The first step is qualification test and the other is analysis of variant that is used to predict the difference among variables in each area. The result of the study shows that the management suitability among the Vocational High Schools in Malang Raya in terms of the scheduling of practice activity is sufficient (60.4%). The suitability of the program of tools need is considered good (58.3%) while the suitability of the organization of machine workshop s tools fulfill the sufficient qualification (73.1%). The suitability of material organization is considered sufficient (64.8%) and finally the suitability of room organization is also sufficient (49.9%). Meanwhile the result of the hypothesis testing is as follows. The scheduling of practice activity has significance value (0.000) 0.05 which means that Ho is rejected. The significance value of the program of tools need is (0.001) 0.05. Therefore the Ho is rejected. The Ho of the organization of machine workshop s tools is also rejected because its significance value is (0.042) 0.05. The significance value of the material organization is (0.033) 0.05 while the significance value of the room organization is (0.024) 0.05. In this case their Hos are rejected. Based on the facts above it can be concluded that there are some differences in the condition of machine workshops among the Vocational High Schools in Malang Malang District and Batu in terms of the scheduling of practice activity the program of tools need the organization of machine workshop s tools the material organization and the room organization. Based on the result of the study it is suggested that the minimum criteria of machine workshop management should be standardized based on the need condition and economic potential of the Vocational High Schools. Moreover the quality of the workshop management should be increased. Therefore other studies about these issues are needed to be conducted in the future.
