p This study examines how slang vocabulary is used among Generation Alpha in digital environments focusing on the impact of digital media on their slang. Data were collected from transcripts of verbal comments and interactions on ten popular TikTok videos (each lasting 30 ndash 60 seconds and averaging over 1 000 000 views) and questionnaires distributed to students at Laboratorium Elementary School UM and Anak Saleh Elementary School in Malang. An in-depth qualitative analysis identified and coded the ten most common slang terms including their context and frequency of use. The findings indicate that slang develops through the stages of potential and diffusion according to Aitchison rsquo s theory which involves creating new words and their rapid spread driven by platform algorithms. The stages of implementation and codification are also observed when slang terms become part of everyday conversations and unofficial online glossaries. Overall the results emphasize the crucial role social media plays in speeding up language change and highlight the importance of sociolinguistic understanding for effective cross-generational communication. /p
