Abstract

p Vape and e-liquids have proliferated in Indonesia through advertisements posted on social media that play with language and creative visuals. Vape and e-liquid brands often employ unique and distinctive wordplay and visuals to attract their target audience particularly users. This is what was examined in this study. This study aims to explore the types of wordplay found in advertisements posted on Instagram and the visual elements that support the vape liquid advertisement Creamsie.id using a textual and compositional metafunctional approach which interact to strengthen brand identity. A descriptive qualitative method was chosen for this study based on a combination of two theories SFL and VG which enable text and image analysis to reveal meaning and brand identity. The analysis showed that the advertisements extensively utilise wordplay techniques such as puns and alliteration often combined with other wordplay techniques. Combined with striking and thematic visual elements these wordplay techniques create a cohesive message. Integrating wordplay text with dynamic visuals reinforces the brand rsquo s uniqueness and offers new insights into the role of language and imagery in marketing. /p
