p The film Don rsquo t Look Up directed by Adam McKay offers a critique of government and capitalists policies to the public through a political comedy and satire visualized as an allegory of an impending global catastrophe. This analysis explores how the film uses its narrative to critique the Government rsquo s response to an existential threat specifically focusing on the interplay between media politics and public perception. This study examines social criticism of the story by connecting allegory as the scope of the research using Ferdinand de Saussure s semiotic theory. Saussurean semiotics is used to analyze the film rsquo s auditory and visual components to convey meaning through signs. This film reflects the concern for the public highlighting how government and capitalist policies prioritize individual profits at the expense of the collective well-being in the characters their roles and their actions. This research highlights the allegory of social critique in the film Don rsquo t Look Up and reveals the message conveyed by the director through the interaction of signifiers and signifieds. /p
