Pedagogical competence constitutes one of the four core competencies that educators must possess. Accordingly bachelor rsquo s students in Mechanical Engineering Education who are preparing for future teaching careers must cultivate this competence to the fullest. Two factors hypothesised to influence the mastery of pedagogical competence are (i) interpersonal communication skills and (ii) students rsquo perceptions of the Microteaching course. This study investigates the simultaneous relationship between interpersonal communication skills perceptions of Microteaching and pedagogical competence among bachelor rsquo s students of Mechanical Engineering Education at Universitas Negeri Malang. A quantitative descriptive ndash correlational ex post facto design was adopted. Purposive sampling yielded 59 respondents from the 2021 cohort who had completed the teaching-assistant programme. Data were gathered using structured questionnaires and analysed with SPSS software through partial-correlation tests multiple regression and requisite assumption checks. The analysis revealed that all three variables mdash X1 (interpersonal communication skills) X2 (perceptions of Microteaching) and Y (pedagogical competence) mdash fell within the high category. Moreover significant positive correlations were found between X1 and Y between X2 and Y and jointly between X1 and X2 and Y. These findings suggest that both interpersonal communication skills and favourable perceptions of Microteaching contribute meaningfully to the development of students rsquo pedagogical competence.
