Abstract

The climate change crisis is a global issue also faced by Indonesia. In response climate change education has begun to be integrated into the national curriculum through relevant subjects. Mathematics provides a strategic opportunity to enhance climate change awareness particularly through data-driven approaches. Through this learning students can become more reflective and critical toward climate change issues. The material enables students to observe read and interpret climate change information more concretely and contextually through graphs tables and diagrams. This research aims to develop a teaching module that integrates the context of climate change into the topic of bar chart data presentation for 7th-grade students in order to enhance critical thinking skills. The climate change context introduced to students emphasizes the relationship between carbon footprints in Indonesia as the main contributing factor to climate change and uncertain crop yields as one of its impacts. The model used in this research is ADDIE which consists of the phases of analysis design development implementation and evaluation. The results show that the developed teaching module and its accompanying e-Worksheet meet the validity criteria with scores of 91.6% and 92.3% respectively. In terms of practicality scores of 92.2% from teachers and 82.8% from students were obtained which fall into the practical category. Meanwhile the effectiveness test showed a result of 80% categorized as effective. Thus the developed teaching module is feasible to be used in the learning process to enhance student rsquo s critical thinking skills through the context of climate change.
