This study employed a mixed-method design in which the quantitative data were obtained through a questionnaire to measure students' SRL and self-efficacy abilities. Then the qualitative data was obtained from interview sessions with 7 participants who succeeded in completing their undergraduate thesis in 2023. The study participants were 41 fresh graduates of the English Department Universitas Negeri Malang. The SRL and self-efficacy scores obtained from the questionnaires were analyzed using the SPSS Program. The result showed that students' SRL and self-efficacy did not significantly relate to the completion their undergraduate thesis. SRL and self-efficacy related only 10% and the rest (90%) was attributed to other variables beyond the scope of this study namely motivation from parents friends lecturers and themselves. This study concluded that SRL and self-efficacy have a relatively small impact on completing an undergraduate thesis.
