The 7E students of SMPN 1 Kanigoro Blitar in the 2022/2023 academic year faceddifficulties in reading comprehension particularly in analysing the identification andexplanation sections of a descriptive text. All students scored below the minimumpassing grade of 75. This study aimed to improve their comprehension scores usingVernalta rsquo s comic strips as a learning tool. Conducted in Blitar this research followed aClassroom Action Research (CAR) design which involved planning implementation observation and reflection throughout the learning process. Comic strips have beenrecognized as an effective tool in English language teaching because they help studentsengage with content and improve understanding in a more enjoyable way. The researchfocused on 7th grade students at SMPN 1 Kanigoro with the 7E class as the samplegroup. A mixed-method approach was used for data analysis combining literaturereview findings with comprehension test results to strengthen the researchconclusions. The use of collaborative learning and discussion alongside Vernalta rsquo scomics resulted in improved comprehension scores for most students. While some didnot reach the passing grade the majority demonstrated significant improvement highlighting comic strips as a promising method for teaching English
