Writing is a important ability in English that students are required to master yet it remains one of the most difficult. Students frequently struggled to explicit their thoughts due to the fact they lacked vocabulary grammar and organization. This study aimed to determine whether or not using storyboards could enhance the writing abilities of eighth-grade students on recount text. The subject was all the eighth-grade students of SMPI Mutiara Hati which were eight participants. The researcher carried out a classroom action research method. The instruments consisting of tests observation sheets and questionnaires had been used to gather the data. The post-test outcomes in one cycle with five meetings were 75% or six students exceeded the average score of the class gt 75. It increased substantially because their pre-test was only 37 5% or three students had passed it. The questionnaire outcomes also showed that 82 1% of the students said that a storyboard helped them better understand what to put in writing and helped them discover the vocabulary to write down. These effective responses and score increases highlighted the success of the usage of storyboards to improve writing abilities. However this study had limitations two students did not attain the minimal target score only had one cycle in CAR and few participants. This research could be carried out by teachers and researchers to involve different grade degrees and integrate storyboarding with other active learning strategies.
