Echolalia is one of the behavioral challenges commonly found in children with autism. It is defined as the meaningless repetition of words which may disrupt learning reception communication and social interaction. In order to enhance students rsquo learning participation it is necessary to implement effective interventions to reduce echolalia. Generally echolalia is categorized into two types immediate echolalia and delayed echolalia. This study aimed to reduce immediate echolalia in children with autism at SLB C Autis Negeri Kedungkandang using the Cues Pause Point (CPP) method. The CPP method was integrated into the special needs education program and supported by the use of picture cards as learning media. This study employed a single-subject research design with an A-B-A format. Data collection was carried out through observation and verbal tests to measure the frequency of echolalia and the data were analyzed descriptively. The results of the study showed a significant decrease in the frequency of echolalia after the implementation of the CPP method. This finding demonstrates that the CPP method was effective in reducing echolalic behavior in the subject. During the baseline-1 phase the average frequency of echolalia was 22.6 times with 100% stability indicating a high level of echolalic behavior where the subject repeated every word spoken by the researcher. In the intervention phase the average frequency of echolalia decreased to 12.125 times with a stability level of 87.5%. This reduction indicates that the subject began to reduce verbal repetition only echoing a few words from the full sentence spoken by the researcher. During the baseline-2 phase the downward trend continued with the frequency further reduced to an average of 8.6 times and the same level of stability at 87.5%. At this stage the subject demonstrated the ability to respond directly to questions without echolalia although occasional word repetition still occurred. The significant reduction observed during the intervention and baseline-2 phases reflects the positive impact of the Cues Pause Point (CPP) method in decreasing echolalic behavior in children with autism.
