Abstract

Learning Natural Sciences (IPA) requires students to understand abstract concepts especially on the material of changes in energy forms. However many students have difficulty in understanding the concept of energy changes resulting in low self-efficacy. The results of an interview with a fourth grade teacher at one of the public elementary schools in Blitar City showed that students self-efficacy and understanding of concepts in this material were still considered low. This is likely due to the lack of variations in learning models and media. The purpose of this research is to explain the effect of PBL learning model assisted by PhET Simulations media on self-efficacy and concept understanding of grade IV elementary school students. The research was conducted quantitatively with an experimental method involving 56 students of SDN Sananwetan 3 Blitar City consisting of 28 students of class IVA and 28 students of class IVB. The instruments used were questionnaires and tests and data analysis was carried out with the help of SPSS software. Based on the results of the paired sample t-test and manova test the significance value was obtained
