Abstract

21st-century skills are currently needed by every student as the times change. They align with the national curriculum s basic education process standards as stipulated in Minister of Education Culture Research and Technology Regulation No. 16 of 2022. Therefore in addition to teachers efforts in designing learning government efforts are needed to instill 21st-century skills in students. One such effort is to compile and provide open materials containing 21st-century skills for students to utilize in their learning. This study aims to describe the content of 21st century skills 5C (critical thinking creativity communication collaboration and citizenship) of the fourth grade science student textbook revised edition of the independent curriculum which is one of the main teaching materials for students in the learning process. This study uses a qualitative approach with the type of research in the form of content analysis. The data sources used in this study are written data sources obtained through documentation in the form of a fourth grade science student textbook revised edition published by the Ministry of Education Culture Research and Technology. The data collection technique is carried out through documentation with the help of data recording sheets in the form of tables. Based on the analysis results of the revised edition of the fourth-grade science student book published by the Ministry of Education Culture Research and Technology it was found that there were 126 activities containing 5C 21st-century skills. The details are 121 critical thinking activities 43 creative activities 72 communication activities 47 collaboration activities and 49 citizenship activities. Based on this explanation it can be concluded that the revised edition of the fourth-grade science student book is relevant to 21st-century skills and is suitable for use by students in learning. There are several citizenship skill indicators not included in the textbook. Therefore recommendations for improvement include inserting activities materials or content containing indicators not included in the textbook for the author or Minister of Education Culture Research and Technology.
