Abstract

Learning is a process that contains a series of teacher and student activities based on reciprocal relationships that take place in educational situations to achieve certain goals. In education of course an effective learning process is expected. The teacher s pedagogical competence is very influential in designing learning development strategies which consist of making learning plans selecting learning models and methods and using teaching resources that are in accordance with the needs of students and learning objectives. One indicator of whether or not a learning process is achieved is by looking at the learning outcomes achieved by students. The problem that occurs in learning is the difficulty of students in understanding the material on the mechanism of human respiration. Then the lack of variation in learning models that provide learning activities that actively involve students in learning. This causes low student learning outcomes. Based on these problems researchers are interested in implementing the Teams Games Tournament model in science learning on the material on the mechanism of human respiration. The purpose of this study was to describe the differences in learning outcomes in the control class using the conventional model to determine the differences in learning outcomes in the experimental class using the Teams Games Tournament model and to determine the effectiveness of the Teams Games Tournament model in improving learning outcomes in the material of human respiratory mechanisms in grade V of elementary school. This study was located at SD Negeri Lesanpuro 3 Malang City. The approach used in this study was a quantitative approach. The design of this experimental study was Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The results of the T test in the experimental class showed that the p value
