Abstract

The increasingly rapid development of the times has brought various changes to the world of education. Various problems have emerged particularly concerning the decline in students morals and ethics. Islamic education is considered unable to provide a moral and ethical foundation balanced with scientific knowledge as expected. Islamic education needs to modernize in an effort to adapt to current developments. Currently many students still possess good knowledge but low morals. The integration of faith and science and technology is crucial in creating a generation that excels not only academically but also possesses good character in accordance with religious teachings. One potential alternative to improving faith and science is through a program called the Islamic Boarding School. The IBS program combines the general education system with the Islamic boarding school system supporting the spiritual development of students. This study aims to describe (1) the implementation strategy of the Islamic Boarding School program as an effort to enhance faith and science and develop the spiritual potential of students at MTs Negeri 1 Kebumen (2) the role of teachers and supervisors of the Islamic Boarding School program in efforts to enhance faith and science and develop the spiritual potential of students at MTs Negeri 1 Kebumen (3) the supporting and inhibiting factors in implementing the Islamic Boarding School program as an effort to enhance faith and science and develop the spiritual potential of students at MTs Negeri 1 Kebumen and (4) the impact of the Islamic Boarding School program on enhancing faith and science and developing the spiritual potential of students at MTs Negeri 1 Kebumen. This research was designed using a qualitative approach with a case study type. The research took place at MTs Negeri 1 Kebumen. Data collection was conducted using in-depth interviews observation and documentation. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data presentation data condensation data presentation and drawing conclusions. Data validity was checked through credibility testing using triangulation member checks research diligence and the adequacy of reference materials. The results of this study can be concluded that (1) the strategy for implementing the IBS program at MTs Negeri 1 Kebumen as an effort to increase Imtaq and Science and Technology in developing students spiritual potential is carried out by balancing general knowledge with religious knowledge integrating the formal education curriculum in madrasas with the curriculum in national education standards implementing additional service activities and intensive habituation and introducing students to digital technology (2) teachers and supervisors of the IBS program act as educators and supervisors who are responsible for supervision character development and providing additional service activities to students. The role of teachers is supported by open communication and good coordination between all parties which is realized in the form of routine meeting activities such as coordination meetings and evaluation meetings (3) supporting factors for the implementation of the IBS program include support from parents the madrasa committee teachers and staff adequate facilities a supportive environment and student motivation. Inhibiting factors include students internal conditions the influence of gadgets and the external environment busy activities boredom divided focus and friendships. The solutions implemented by the madrasa include using persuasive and soft approaches engaging with parents disseminating regulations and fostering good cooperation between various parties and (4) the IBS program at MTs Negeri 1 Kebumen has a significant positive impact on increasing Imtaq and Science and Technology in developing students spiritual potential. The visible impacts on students include achievement character improvement changes in attitude and improvements in social skills. Based on the research findings the researcher provides the following suggestions (1) Students can utilize the IBS program as an opportunity to develop their potential particularly their spiritual potential so they must be more enthusiastic in participating in all activities within the IBS program (2) The principal of MTs Negeri 1 Kebumen is advised to create stricter policies regarding regulations. The principal can apply an educational approach in disseminating regulations to students (3) The head of the IBS program can hold a reflection program for students to restore their mental and spiritual well-being (4) Teachers at MTs Negeri 1 Kebumen if they feel bored can reflect and evaluate themselves. To improve their personal and teaching qualities teachers can participate in supporting training (5) The Head of the Department of Educational Administration can encourage students to conduct further research to enrich the knowledge of educational administration and (5) Other researchers are advised to conduct comparative studies in several madrasas that have similar programs using a quantitative or mixed methods approach to obtain a broader and more in-depth picture of the effectiveness of the boarding school program.
