p This study aims to analyze the impact of social change that occurs due to the assimilation process on Betawi culture in East Jakarta. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a field study approach through in-depth interviews with Betawi people in five different locations namely Cakung Duren Sawit Jatinegara Cipayung and Kramat Jati. The results of the study indicate that assimilation with immigrants has caused a significant cultural shift such as the use of language art and cuisine. Although there is a tendency for some elements of native culture to disappear the Betawi people also show adaptation by integrating new cultural elements into their identity. The impact of this social change can be seen from the weakening of community ties the shifting of customary values and the changing cultural space in urban areas. This study emphasizes the importance of preserving local culture in facing the dynamics of urbanization and social change that continue to develop in East Jakarta. /p
