p Due to land limitations and development demands the construction of high-rise buildings with irregular geometry has become common. However irregular buildings are more susceptible to structural damage during an earthquake than regular buildings. Therefore this study analyzed the behavior of a 13-story plus-shaped building against seismic forces from the recorded accelerations of the Chuetsu-oki Chi-Chi Kise and Tokachi-oki earthquakes. The method used in the analysis is an experimental simulation using ETABS v21 software from data collection to earthquake analysis and structural seismic response. The results show that as the re-entrant corner ratio increases there is an amplification of torsional moment towards the regular model by a maximum of 67 52% for a ratio of 0 22 162 64% for a ratio of 0 44 and 106 41% for ratios of 0 36 (X-direction) and 0 58 (Y-direction). These values also mean that the stress concentration at the re-entrant corner becomes worse as the re-entrant corner ratio increases. The mode shape that occurs has also become more complex involving simultaneous translational-torsional motion. Meanwhile the earthquake acceleration and structural response influence the base shear value. /p
