p Chants are a fundamental aspect of the world of sports serving as a form of expression from the fan base that influences the dynamics of live sports matches. Football fans particularly British football fans are renowned for their unique chants especially in the English Premier League which serves a lot of big matches between the top teams such as Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspurs. This study investigates the sociolinguistic aspects of football chants particularly the chants rsquo types and themes how Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspurs chant elements portray the speech community of its supporters and also examines the chants role in shaping supporters rsquo community identity. The researcher selected 13 chants from Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspurs Football Club combine which gained from Youtube as the main data for this research. Using a qualitative method the researcher analyzed the content of chants and elaborated with previous studies on related topics exploring how chants contribute to forming speech communities. The findings reveal that chants from Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur supporters that have been collected can be categorized into 4 themes and 4 types of chants and also portrays speech communities of Arsenal and Tottenham supporters through the language they used in the chants. In addition chants also have a role to create a bond among individual fans uniting them into a single identity through the speech community. /p
