Abstract

p This research analyzes cultural appropriation in Black Panther Wakanda Forever (2022) using Richard Rogers framework categorizing appropriation into cultural exchange dominance exploitation and transculturation. Through content analysis the study identifies the types of cultural appropriation in the film with cultural dominance being the most prevalent (53%). This dominance reflects the struggles of Wakanda and Talokan to protect their cultural sovereignty from external exploitation particularly by Western powers. The film also depicts cultural exchange (17%) cultural exploitation (17%) and transculturation (13%) showcasing a complex narrative of cultural interactions. The findings highlight a critique of neocolonialism the preservation of cultural identity and opportunities for collaboration while addressing historical and modern injustices. This research contributes to the discourse on cultural representation calling for more respectful portrayals of cultural interactions. /p
