There is a self-blaming phenomenon experienced by some high school students with toxic relationships. High levels of self-blaming will have an impact on aspects of their development one of which is the maturity of peer relationships. There is a gap between the developmental aspects of students at the high school level and the conditions of high school students in the field. Victims of self-blaming choose to withdraw from their friendship environment. Some assistance that can be recommended one of which is using the Reality counseling approach with modeling techniques. Reality counseling with modeling techniques is effective in reducing changing and increasing changes in new behavior. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Reality counseling with modeling techniques on self-blaming in students with toxic relationships. This study uses a quantitative experimental approach with a pre-experimental one group pretest posttest model. The implementation of the treatment was carried out using modeling techniques through group counseling for four meetings. The research subjects were selected six students from grades 10 and 11 using purposive sampling techniques. The research data were collected using a self-blaming scale that had been developed by Reddy (2023) referring to the Janoff-Bulman theory. The self-blaming scale has been declared valid and reliable with a calculated r value of gt 0.329 and a Cronbach alpha score of 0.921. Data analysis was carried out descriptively and using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The research findings showed a significant change in the pretest and posttest results. Before the intervention students in toxic relationships experienced high self-blaming with an average pretest score of 64.2. After undergoing treatment with modeling techniques it showed a decrease with an average posttest score of 42. The results of the Wilcoxon test showed a Z score of -2.201 which indicated a lower value compared to the initial value and a significance score of 0.028 which means that the hypothesis can be accepted. The results of this study can be concluded that Reality counseling with modeling techniques for self-blaming in students with toxic relationships has been proven effective. Some suggestions that can be conveyed if in the implementation of counseling there is a case of self-blaming in students with toxic relationships counselors are advised to use Reality counseling with modeling techniques. For further researchers it is expected to conduct research with a control group as a comparison to measure the effectiveness of Realita counseling with modeling techniques on self-blaming in students with toxic relationships.
