p X is a social media platform for public interaction. There are a lot of posts and comments in X which contain memes a type of multimodal text. This study investigates an account post to understand how a meme post and X user rsquo s meme reaction form a series of multimodal texts showing an interaction between the text and the images they provide. This study investigates the relationship between the meaning expression and semiotic modes inherent in memes that X users send. In this case the research used a post on the Tanyarl account and ten meme reactions in the post rsquo s comments to analyze. Memes have been used to express responses to the link between verbal and visual texts in terms of conceptual meaning. Royce rsquo s (1998) ideational intersemiotic complementarity framework is used in this study to map and categorize each instance of visual-verbal relations in the data regarding repetition synonymy antonymy hyponymy meronymy and collocation. The study found that most verbal-visual relations fit into the collocation category indicating that memes are formed with images that relate to written text using text or images that are related to the collocation functions. /p
