Abstract

p This research analyzes irony through the lens of ecocriticism in the Fly episode of the Breaking Bad TV series. Breaking Bad is one of the most popular series that raises many environmental aspects and issues and presents crime drama as its main genre. The study applies the theory of ecocriticism especially its concept of pollution as the main theme in the Fly episode. I analyze the visual and narrative elements of the laundry the meth lab the fly and Walter White rsquo s effort to serve as vehicles for deeper ecological themes and reflections on human-nature relationships within the context of the series. Drawing upon the ecocritical concept of pollution this research reveals that there is an irony in the form of the fly disinterest in meth but Walter White considers that the fly can pollute and damage meth as a product that he and Jesse cook. This study aims to reveal the ecological commentary on popular works such as Breaking Bad and enrich ecocritical research that has previously rarely been applied to this series. /p
