Abstract

Geography learning has the peculiarity of learning that must be done hands-on. If done correctly learning geography can equip students with geographical thinking skills. One of the appropriate learning activities is by doing fieldwork to the location of the geosphere phenomenon. However this has its challenges and constraints. One of them was during the Covid-19 Pandemic which required geography teachers to conduct online learning of course activities such as fieldwork were eliminated. Before the pandemic fieldwork learning was almost never found especially when it was done using blended learning. Research in this dissertation has the main objective to produce a fieldwork learning model based on blended learning. The main objective is divided into four parts. First to find out the conditions of geography learning related to fieldwork at the high school level and what are the obstacles. Second knowing the process of implementing integrated blended learning fieldwork learning. Third testing fieldwork syntax based on blended learning in schools with different distances and sessions. Fourth testing the application of fieldwork based on blended learning and its impact on students. Of the four parts of this goal this research was designed using the Borg amp Gall Research and Development (R amp D) model which has been modified to achieve the stated goals. The study was divided into three designs namely the planning stage which was carried out through literature search and observation interviewing which was used to obtain geography learning conditions related to fieldwork in SMA. Furthermore at the planning stage classroom action research and framing instruction are also carried out in order to find out the integrated blended learning fieldwork learning process. The second stage in this research is developing a prototype by using the model in the instruction process. The mixed method research method involves three high schools to conduct experiments on fieldwork based on blended learning syntax in schools with different distances and sessions and explore student perceptions. The third stage is in the form of evaluation of instruction progress as a form of feasibility testing carried out by experimental research using a learning model in which fieldwork based on blended learning is applied in technology to determine the size of the effect on students geographical thinking. This study obtained the following results 1) Learning geography at the senior high school level in Indonesia was minimal due to costs permission from schools and parents the difficulty of finding field work locations and the teacher s lack of confidence in carrying out fieldwork. In this study it was also found that there had never been fieldwork through blended learning conducted by geography teachers 2) Integration of fieldwork with blended learning in effective learning in improving student learning outcomes by paying attention to the exact location of fieldwork. 3) The distance from school to fieldwork locations is a determining factor for the success of fieldwork based on blended learning the ideal distance between schools and fieldwork locations is plusmn 5 Kilometers. While the session does not affect the success of fieldwork implementation. 4) Fieldwork based on blended learning supported by smartphone applications has the potential to improve students geographical thinking.
