Being a parent is a big shift in a person rsquo s life. The new expectation and experiences attached to it is undeniably very stressful yet a rewarding phase of life to navigate on. While the story about parenting is unique for each parent it rsquo s also a different story when it comes to dealing with a child with special needs. Deafness is commonly known to be a physical hearing impairment of a person. However there rsquo s more to Deafness that must be understood especially for parents of Deaf children. Informal Education plays a very important role as parents in general feels unequipped in venturing towards parenting a Deaf child. Hence this research sets to establish the importance of developing a parent training program on Deafness and the Deaf culture by citing two local organizations in Malang namely Akar Tuli and Omah Gembira as case study areas. This study aims to 1) Identify parents responses when they first found out their child was Deaf 2) Identify parents experiences on the acceptance of their community of their Deaf children and 3) Identify parents access to learning for Deaf children. This research was conducted using qualitative methods with a case study approach. The data collection techniques used were interviews observation and documentation. The data sources in this research are parents who have Deaf children who are members of Akar Tuli and Omah Gembira. Data is collected and grouped for analysis using an inductive method then organizing the data to be presented and finally conclusions are drawn. The results obtained from this research are as follows 1) Parents responses when they first learned that their child was Deaf 2) Parents experiences on the acceptance of their community of their Deaf children and 3) Parents access to learning for Deaf children.
