This research is a case study that aims to investigate a special phenomenon in English language learning of the subject who successfully learned English and obtained bachelor rsquo s degree in English Language Teaching while battling Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) a psychological condition where the patients experience extreme worry and anxiety towards normal things daily. The data was obtained through online interviews conducted by sending written semi-structured interview questions which then answered by the subject. Some follow-up questions were gradually added later in order to complete the detailed examples required for reporting findings. This procedure was obtained due to COVID-19 pandemic which restricted mobility and direct contact with people. Furthermore the subject resides outside the town. The data was analyzed using narrative analysis in which narrative thematic approach was applied. Since the study focused on revealing the subject rsquo s attempt in learning English and finishing her education the analysis was emphasizing more on defining and interpreting the data. Five stages of thematic analysis were administered including organizing and preparing the data obtaining general sense of the information coding putting categories and interpreting the data (Creswell 2014). The results show that in this case Generalized Anxiety Disorder affects the student rsquo s life significantly especially during her learning process in college. The situation she had to deal with was worsened by the fact that mental health issues were not taken seriously at that time. In addition mental health facilities were not as accessible and affordable as they are nowadays therefore she had to go through extra effort to get professional help. After receiving proper treatments the subject stated that she experienced improvements in her life including her learning process. She found it easier to regulate her learning manage her cognitive skills and develop her communicative skills which is the goal of language learning. In the discussion section the major highlight is how the subject rsquo s attempts to overcome learning disruptions caused by Generalized Anxiety Disorder before during and after the treatments she underwent. The symptoms she suffered manifested in the form of constant worry and fear of the worst outcome anxious when being surrounded by people overwhelmed to the extent of having several panic attacks procrastinating in doing assignments experiencing mental and social blocks which prevented her from engaging in group discussions and presentations and something she would refer as lsquo over-proofreading rsquo written tasks. Those symptoms are the same with the ones stated in DSM-5 as the fulfilling criteria of a person with Generalized Anxiety Disorder namely excessive and uncontrollable worry towards various normal situations especially at work or school cognitive disruption such as memory impairment restlessness and occurrence of panic attacks. Anxiety in the classroom is often related to Foreign Language Anxiety since the problem only occurs in specific predicaments. However most of the time learning disruptions in EFL classrooms stem from deeper and more complicated measures which this study was trying to investigate and dig deeper.
