Vocabulary is an essential thing for students to have. However students in SMPN 2 Dampit still lack vocabulary. They could not locate or recall the meaning of several terms. To solve this problem Theme-Based teaching strategy can help students improve their vocabulary. The purpose of this study was to investigate how theme-based teaching may help students enhance their vocabulary. This study has a Pre-Experimental design with 27 pupils from class 8-A of SMPN 2 Dampit participating. A written test with pre- and post-test results was used as the study instrument. The results of the students pre-test revealed that the second-grade students at SMPN 2 Dampit lacked vocabulary. However students vocabularies improved following the treatment. The research findings suggest that using Theme-Based teaching may enhance students vocabulary during the teaching process which can be shown in the post-test result score of students. The difference between the results of the pre-test and post-test student evaluations may be evaluated using the T-Test. According to the T-test findings the mean of the students pre-test scores was 31 25 and the mean of the students rsquo post-test scores was 65 14. According to this rationale students post-test scores improved above their pre-test results. As a consequence the post-test was deemed successful. As a consequence it is possible to conclude that theme-based teaching tactics can be employed to boost students vocabulary. Teachers on the other hand must pay close attention to how they are used when studying and instructing.
