This study aims to analyze the students rsquo views on the implementation of audiovisual materials in their speaking tasks. This study describes the implementation of audiovisual materials students rsquo perceptions on it the challenges faced by the students and how they overcome those challenges. A case study was conducted involving 13 students as the participants of the study. They are the second semester students who took speaking course in a private university in Malang. The researcher utilized classroom observation document analysis questionnaire and interview as the technique in collecting the data. The result of this study showed that there are two kinds of audiovisual materials used in this class. They are movies and video clip of song. To implement these materials the teacher of this class integrated them with various speaking activities such as story completion technique storytelling debate and roleplay. Furthermore the majority of the students have positive responses towards this implementation. It is because the students feel that their speaking skill is improved due to this implementation. Yet there are some challenges the students faced during the learning process using these materials and tasks. Those challenges were related to the lack of vocabulary time allocation and technical problem. To overcome their challenges the students have several strategies. Related to the lack of vocabulary the students overcome it by watching English movies listening to English songs or reading English material to enhance their vocabulary mastery. Besides they can ask to their friend and/or teacher about unfamiliar words. They also can look up the meaning of unfamiliar words in the dictionary. Related to time allocation and technical problems the students agreed that it is the role of teacher to prepare the suitable materials concerning the length of the materials and students rsquo level. The teacher also should prepare and have anticipation when any technical problems occur. In short the implementation of audiovisual materials in speaking tasks is accepted positively by the students since this implementation gave various benefits for students rsquo development in their learning process. The challenges they faced can be overcome by them and by the help of their teacher using some strategies they choose to use.
